In true Heidi-style, I'm late on making a post. But, I'm here none the less.
I'm really excited about running this race, even though Amy clearly stated that it, "WILL NOT BE FUN". Hmmm.....why am I doing this again? I think there are several reasons I want to do it, 1) because I've always wanted to do a marathon...I'll be happy with the half, 2) I need something to help me focus on reaching some fitness goals, 3) because I have the ability to do it. There is no reason that I physically can't train to complete this event, and I'm thankful for that. 4) I am the queen of starting things and not finishing them and I want to use this half marathon as a way to break that cycle (or at least prove to myself that I can actually finish something I start). And, last, but not least, it would be great if I could shed a little of the lard that I've let pile up around my midsection for the past few years.
Ok, so there are my reasons for doing this race. Now, on to the training. I've been writing my workouts on the handy-dandy training schedule that Amy gave us (thank you Amy!). I start my training week on Saturdays. Last week, I ran a total of 11 miles. I was hoping to reach 12, but I actually fell asleep in my running clothes on Friday night - pathetic! It's funny to think that I didn't even run the total number of miles in one week that I'll be doing in one day. Thank goodness I have a few months before that day!
I started my second week of training yesterday. I ran 3 miles and walked .5 miles to cool down. I'm not sure why, but yesterday's three seemed harder than usual. Hopefully today is better. I have a bugger of a headache today and my neck is stiff, so I hope I'm not catching something. Ugh.
Well, that's it for now. I hope training is going well for everyone else!!!!
Happy running!
Heidi
