Ok, so I guess it's my turn to update for the weekend. Amy W and I went 10.0 miles on Saturday, and I have to be honest...it kicked my ass! I distinctively remember thinking at about the 9.75 mile point that there was no way I would have been able to run three more! We went around noon on Saturday and it was windier than a mo fo! At one point, a huge gust hit Amy and I and LITERALLY knocked us backward! Besides that, we had a friendly (not so much) German Shepard chasing us and barking at us. I was so afraid he was going to bite us, but thankfully we made it through w.out a nip. Maybe the rain deterred him from following us any further. Once we got on to county rd F, it was MUCH better. No wind and nice and flat. :) Can't beat that. I can't lie, though, I was wiped out after the 10.
After the run I took Mila down to the Cinco de Mayo festival, which was really nice! I highly suggest you visit it if you haven't before. They had a lot of fun little games for the kids that were only 25 cents. The had dance lessons and a mariachi (sp?) band as well as some AWESOME food. I was impressed with it. Mila got her face painted and, of all the wonderful authentic mexican food, she snacked on a big 'ole stick of cotton candy! :)
That night I bartended at the Relay for Life Fun Nite at the Fayette Bar. I had so much fun doing it! I never imagined that I'd enjoy it since I hated waitressing. I started at 5:30 and ended at 1:30 AM! Needless to say, I was wiped out on Sunday but it was well worth it because we raised OVER $4,000!!!!!!!! That is the most that has ever been made! WOOOHOOO!
Good job ALL OF YOU for the awesome running this weekend. The 1/2 is going to be here before you know it. I'm so proud of EVERY ONE OF US! WAY TO GO and keep on runnin'!
