Thanks Amy for the heads up in the actual mileage count. I had done a little digging earlier on the Mad City Marathon website and read that it indeed was only 13.1 - which was the first thing that made me happy!
Amy, you are so right on that it is a mental challenge far more than anything else! On Saturday, Jamie and I had a great 10.2 mile run. Which after reading Amy's post was the second thing that made me happy-we ran farther than Amy!!! WTF!!! Anyway back to the mental, we left Jamie's house and were going out toward the Country Club so we had to run up Center Hill. As soon as I saw that hill I was taken back to a time when I was either walking from Nelson Middle to a football game or running up that thing in Cross Country, and immediately, I was freaked out! Now we had only been running like a mile and that stupid hill was worse than the rest of the nine miles! All because it was in my head that I couldn't do it! Well FU Center Hill Road...I ran up you and didn't die-another happy moment.
Really, even if this teaches me nothing other than that my mind is stronger than my body...it will be worth it.
Good job on the long run Brassy1, I knew you could do it! Jamie and I could have used Drew and the cheerleaders when we ended ou run at the bridge and had no money to get water at Casey's, I didn't have one effing relative sitting at the Riverwood drinking coffee & preaching about AA, James P was not at Dicks with the Amenda's and Hazel is still in Texas... so we had to walk all the way back to Jamie's house without any water. Fun Times.
