Mental vs. Physical

I have been running now for longer than I can remember (getting dragged along to fun runs when I was five), and still it amazes me how the whole thing goes down.

My last long run outside, which was a while ago, I felt totally spent, and was relieved when it was over. This Saturday, I hit the bike trail, ran to my school and back which was 9.89 miles and I felt great the whole way, and never had any major setbacks. Why is one day, with less mileage, etc. so different?? The answer is the brain. All of us now are capable of running this half-marathon with no problems, we just have to convince our minds that. How crazy it that? One would think sometimes it is the other way around, not being in shape, but I guess it just proves that you have to be crazy in the head to want to run 13.1 miles (Julie really that is all it is, or they would not be able to be certified).
